Emzo Kvaratskhelia – I am Confident in Ukraine’s Victory

The entire civilized world has never been as united as it is now. A clear example of this is the rallies of thousands of people that come out in order to support Ukraine. For me, personally, it’s a therapeutic experience and I feel much closer to the Ukrainian people when I’m attending rallies. I often feel powerless, like I can’t help or do anything for them. But every time I go to a rally, I am convinced that there is a point in fighting.

It is very important for the rallies to continue until Ukraine has won the war. With the rallies we are all trying to force the EU to impose more effective sanctions on Russia and Russian oligarchs. Besides, I try to talk to Ukrainian people and explain to them that Georgian government does not represent Georgian people’s opinions. This is the bare minimum that I can do and that’s why I will always attend every rally.

Georgians in Belgium are particularly patriotic. Before the war, my friends and I organized a rally to support Ukraine, to which many Georgian came. Additionally, they are actively involved in collecting humanitarian aid. Once I posted that my friends were going to Ukraine as volunteers. In just 15 minutes, 300 EUR was collected through small donations for the boys to have cigarettes and basic needs. Most queer Georgians live in Belgium and almost all of them attend rallies. There has not been a single rally in support of Ukraine without a Georgian flag. Everywhere and always, we express our support. Everywhere and always, we are with them – sometimes more, sometimes less.

The Russian patriarch and Russian propaganda is already mentioning Zelensky being a gay activist, trying to discredit him in such ways. Can you imagine, what will happen if the war ends with Ukraine’s defeat?! There will be colonies created for gay people, the way they exist in Russia and in countries controlled by Russia. We’re not just saying it in vain when we mention war between the civilized world and Russia. This is no ordinary war, either the clear judgment will win, or we’ll have to spend the rest of our lives in the darkness. I don’t even want to think about Ukraine’s defeat, this is an unacceptable outcome. Ukrainians have already defeated the evil. It is inadmissible for the world to abandon this war and for it to become Ukraine’s defeat. LGBTQI+ community members are also fighting with much dignity in the war. This is the group of people that is the most vulnerable to the results of the Russian propaganda. We have been dealing with this our whole lives. Obviously, it is hard for queer people to handle it.

Ukraine has supported us not only in 2008, but also in 1993. They have never been scared to express their support. They were the first ones that helped us with actions and were together in this experience with us. And with that, the actions of Georgian government are like a slap in the face, to put it mildly. They have revealed their true faces in the last 2 weeks. Now we can say confidently that our government is Russian. They voice the same exact messages as the Russian government. My eyes start bleeding when I’m listening to their statements. They don’t even dare to say that the war was started by Russia. High-rank clergymen shamelessly declare that there is a war in some country and that they’re upset about it. They sell out Ukrainian children’s corpses for 2 glasses of milk. They give up their dignity, conscience, honor, and country! I honestly feel ashamed when I meet Ukrainian people at the rallies. I always speak up to apologize to them for my government’s actions, to tell them that we stand with them. Today only in Belarus and Russia the rally participants are getting arrested for supporting Ukraine, and now in Georgia as well. If our government does not change in time, our country will disappear from the map completely.

Georgia doesn’t have any resources to impose any sanctions on anyone, no one expected that from us. The only responsibility was to have correct and healthy positions in all the statements and to not embarrass ourselves. First of all, we should’ve let in Ukrainian refugees (not many of them would come here anyway, in Europe they automatically get 1-year long documents) in order to express our support. There should be a visa requirement for citizens of Russia. It is unacceptable to let them into our country taking all the dangers into account. Terrorist Putin has always started wars with neighboring countries with the pretext of protecting Russians, that is a well-known fact.

I’m not only hoping for, but I am confident in Ukraine’s victory. I would even say that they have already won. Through great sacrifices it is defeating the world’s greatest monster. Ukrainian people are the ones that make me so optimistic. I am jealous of their bravery, unity and attitude. Every oppositional leader is supporting Zelensky and everyone is fighting together. People are stopping the tanks with bare hands, making Molotov cocktails, volunteering. I can name lots of other details that give me grounds for such positivity.

Putin on the LGBTQ Flag: Another Hacker Attack on Bulgarian TV Channels

Last week, on March 6, a group of hackers replaced the online broadcasts of several Bulgarian TV channels with the meme about Russian President Vladimir Putin, called Gay Clown Putin.

According to Novinite.com, Bulgaria’s largest English-language news agency, and Bulgaria On Air, a viral meme was shown on the screen for several hours as a result of a hacker attack, with some TV stations shutting down until Monday, with Bloomberg and Bulgaria On Air shutting down. .

The hackers, whose identities are not yet known, managed to penetrate into the domain system of the TV channel service provider using the existing vulnerabilities.

The cyber-attack came after Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, issued a statement on February 26 calling on amateur or professional hackers to join forces to fight Russian forces.

Fedorov said in a statement that Ukraine wants to create an IT army to fight Russia, and added a link to the telegram group, which soon gained more than 35,000 users.

Since the group was formed, hackers volunteering to distribute footage of the ongoing war in Ukraine, have hacked numerous Russian media pages and stolen files from Russian government agencies.

The famous internet meme, which depicts Vladimir Putin against the background of the LGBTQ flag, appeared on the social network Tumblr in 2013 in protest of Russia’s “gay propaganda” law. Since then, viral memes have often been used for protests in various parts of the country.

Impose a No-fly Zone and We will Deal with the War on the Ground – the Letter from the First Lady of Ukraine

Lately, numerous media outlets have contacted me to record an interview. This letter is the answer to all these requests and my word as a witness from Ukraine.

It was impossible to believe what happened a little over a week ago. Our country was quiet; Our towns and villages are full of life. On February 24, we all woke up to the news of a Russian attack. Tanks crossed the border into Ukraine, planes violated our airspace, rocket launchers surrounded our cities.

Despite claims from Kremlin’s propaganda that the events are a “special operation”, the fact is that this is a mass murder of Ukrainian citizens. Probably the most horrifying and sad part of this attack is the death of a child – 8-year-old Ellis, who died on the streets of Okhtirka, whom his grandfather tried to protect. Or Polina from Kiev, who died in the bombing along with her parents. 14-year-old Arsen, who was hit in the back by debris and could not be rescued because an ambulance could not arrive in time due to the fire.

Russia says that “this is not a war against civilians”, so I will first mention the names of the children killed.

Our women and children now live in mine shelters and basements. Probably everyone has seen the photos of Kiev and Kharkov metro stations, where people are lying on the floor with children and pets – locked up. For some it’s just a result of the war, for Ukrainians it’s a horrific reality. In some cities, families are unable to leave shelters for days because of indiscriminate and relentless bombing that destroys civilian buildings.

The first newborn of the war saw the ceiling of the basement, breathed in the cramped air of the underground bunker for the first time, and the people witnessing their the first moments were locked up, frightened people. Currently, dozens of children have never seen peace. This war is being waged against civilians and not just because of the bombing. Some people need intensive care and constant treatment that they cannot get. How easy is it to make insulin in the basement? Or take asthma medications during a fire? Not to mention the thousands of oncology patients for whom essential chemotherapy and radiation treatment have been discontinued.

Locals are hopeless on social media. Many people, including the elderly, the seriously ill, and the disabled, are separated from their families and no longer have any support. The war declared against these innocent people is double the crime. Our roads are congested with refugees. Look into the eyes of these tired women and the children who will bear the heartache of leaving behind the loved ones and the life they had. The men who take them to the border can not hold back their tears as the families separate, but they still return heroically to the battlefield to protect our freedom. In spite of everything, despite all the horrific events, the Ukrainians do not give up.

Aggressor Putin thought he would take Ukraine by blitzkrieg, but he could not properly assess our country, our people and their patriotism. Ukrainians, despite their political views, mother tongue, faith and nationality, showed incomparable unity.

The Kremlin propaganda claimed that the Ukrainians, as survivors, would be greeted with flowers, but they are greeted with Molotov cocktails. I am grateful to the residents of the cities that were attacked for providing coordinated assistance to anyone who needed it. I am also grateful to those who work in pharmacies, shops, public transport, social services, because they have shown that life in Ukraine wins.

I must mention all those who have provided humanitarian assistance to our citizens and thank them for their continued support. Thanks to the neighbors who opened the borders and sheltered the women and children, thank you for being safe when the aggressor limited our ability to do so.

Thanks to people all over the world who have organized marches in support of Ukraine. We see you! We keep an eye on you and appreciate the support.

Ukraine wants peace, but will defend its borders, its identity and it will never fall. In cities where bombing continues, where people are trapped under rubble, unable to get out of basements, we need safe corridors to provide humanitarian aid and evacuation. We need those who have the authority to impose a no-fly zone to do it!

Close the sky and we will deal with the ongoing war on the ground.

I am addressing the media: Keep telling the truth and cover the current events in Ukraine. All the evidence is vital in the context of the war waged by the Russian Federation.

With this letter I confirm and tell the world: the current war in Ukraine is not a “war somewhere”. This is a war in Europe, near the border of the European Union. Ukraine is trying to stop the force that may invade your cities tomorrow and call it the protection of its citizens to justify it.

To me and my people, last week it all seemed like an exaggeration, but today it is a reality in which we live. We do not know how long it will take. If we do not stop Putin, who is threatening to start a nuclear war, there will be no safe place for anyone.

We will win, because of our unity, the common love of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!

Alt-Info Office in Khulo was Closed on Its’ Opening Day

The office of the pro-Russian group Alt-Info was opened in Khulo yesterday, but the locals made them leave on the same day. The mentioned information was spread by the member of the Solidarity community, Edo Javakhidze on his Facebook page.

“Can’t say anything about others, but on the opening day in Khulo we closed the Alt-Info office. The moment I informed Dato Solomonidze or about who they were, he immediately made the right decision and kicked them out,” Javakhidze wrote on Facebook.

The opening of Alt-Info offices was followed by protests in other cities as well: the office of a pro-Russian group in Gori was painted red, and in Akhaltsikhe locals made anti-Soviet nostalgia inscriptions on the office banner. At the same time, the civil movement Sirckhvilia has released a petition demanding the suspension of broadcasting for Alt-Info and Russian state channels in Georgia. The petition is signed by more than 10 thousand people.

Russian Patriarch Accuses Western Society and Pride March of Attacking Ukraine

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, spoke at a Sunday service about Russia’s attack on Ukraine. He accused liberal Western values, which he said supported a gay Pride March.

Putin launched a war on Ukrainian territory on February 24. Patriarch who has a close relationship to Putin said that “Pride March was created to demonstrate that sin is part of human behavior and that if you want to join their club, you must organize March in honor.”

Cyril said that “these values” are rejected in the Donbas region, so he described the war as “Choosing God’s values”.

“They have been trying for 8 years to destroy what exists in Donbas. In Donbass, on the other hand, the values offered by those in power are fundamentally rejected. If humanity does not see sin as a violation of divine law, but as human behavior, it will be the end of civilization,” said Cyril, who described the conflict as “a very important event in politics.”

Ilia II also spoke about the ongoing war on the territory of Ukraine, although neither Ukraine nor Russia have mentioned it.

“There is a war in some countries, we are sad that there is a war. We pray. We try not to take part in aggravating the situation,” Ilia II said in his sermon.

Delevingne Felt Isolated Because her Queerness as a Child

Cara Delevingne has spoken openly about her sexuality in recent years and identifies as pansexual. In a 2020 interview with Variety, the model, actress and activist recalled her childhood and said, “Pride is a feeling I never had as a child.”

In a recent interview with The Time, the actor mentioned that childhood was difficult for her as a queer person.

“As a teenager, I felt isolated because I was queer, I often found it difficult to understand my own feelings. My sisters did their best to be there for me, but it was something I had to go through myself to really know who I was. I’m still on this journey and will continue to be for the rest of my life,” the model and actress recalled her adolescence.

Delevingne considers herself a rebel, and unlike before, when she noted that she was less accepting and had outdated views while working in the modeling industry, she now feels much more open.

“First and foremost, I’ve always seen myself as a rebel, not as someone who wants to break the rules, but as someone who wants to question them. I love the word disobedient. To me, it means someone who questions what they’re told. As a model, I always felt like I was acting. I was constantly trying to fit a mold, but with acting, I was able to understand and navigate my own relationship with emotions,” Cara said at the end of the conversation.
