A Transgender Woman Was Attacked in Tbilisi

On August 9, a transgender woman was verbally and physically assaulted near a circus in Tbilisi. The motive for the crime was gender intolerance.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. They are being charged with an organized crime.

The investigation is underway under Article 126, Part 1, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment for up to 2 years.
