Maurie Sherman, with his story, gives hope to people whose parents are not comfortable with their children’s genders and identities. At first, following the coming out, Maurie’s father did not support his son, which Maurie explains as a result of lack of information. However, during the following year the father went through an amazing transformation and has become the most caring, loving and supportive parent of a queer son.
One day, the father decided to fly the pride flag in his yard and asked Maurie for help. This gesture turned out to be very emotional for Maurie – his dad not only accepted his orientation, but even chose to fly the flag in his yard together.
